the diagram below depicts the rehabilitation project of an industrial zone. It aims to transform it into a residential subdivision. The former map illustrates the actual zone while the latter is a projection of what the area will look like once roadworks are done.
Effectively, today, the area is mainly composed of work amenities such as a canteen, offices, a factory and a storage room. Furthermore, a non negligable portion of the area is occupied by the yard and is therefore unexploited.
Regarding the rehabilitation projection map, it is clear that this space’s purpose is no longer to product goods and services. It aims to become a private residential area, including 5 houses and and an undetermined number of apartments, all linked by a private road. It appears that aparments as well as a parking have taken the place of the factory while in the same dynamic and Nevertheless the yard is not erased although its size is considerably reduced :it serves now as comunal gardens. Even though the old parking has been replaced by houses, various parkings have been built either replacing the offices or supplanting the yard.
To sum up, this project writes itself in a more global dynamic led by public policy which is to support private housing project rather than old fashioned factories relying on outdated production technics.
