The maps below depict the transformation in Felixstone’s site outlay. The changes illustrated through two diagrams of Felixstone in different years: 1967 and 2001.
Overall, the area underwent through significant modifications. The older version of Felixstone was less urbanized by its residents. For example, there was a lot of free space near the Dunes while the land near shops was occupied by farmland. Later, the site became more community-focused due to the introduction of various public amenities, namely new housing facilities were build. Moreover, the natural surroundings were changed substancially by urban construction, such as beaches, tennis courts, etc.
Specifically, the older landscape contained the fish market in the northerneast corner by the farm. In contrast, the new site design removed it and transformed this part into a rectangular shaped area that is highly adapted for recreactional activities; to be exact, the slot contains space for swimming and tennis court. The lower space was occupied by marine facilities. The pier was situated near the sea.
Meanwhile, in 2001, the site was reorganazied, and new beaches were introduced. Moreover, the location of a local cafe and hotel was rearranged. Now, these facilities are constructed in the northeastern and southwestern parts of the map. The modern layout also comprises wind turbines to the south of the dunes.
