The two maps illustrate how the coastal town of Felixstone developed between 1967 and 2001.
In 1967, Felixstone was less developed with more natural areas. There were trees and sand dunes along the coast. A hotel was located near the dunes, along with cafe and a pier extending into the sea. There was also a fish market and marina for boats. In the northern part of the town, there was a golf course on the left side and farmland on the right side. The town center had shops along the high street.
By 2001, the town had changed significantly. The trees and sand dunes remained, but some new facilities were replaced by wind turbines. Farmland was completely removed and replaced by a new hotel, which now has a swimming pool and tennis courts. The beach was divided into a public beach and a private beach, which was not there before.
Overall, Felixstone became more developed and focused more on tourism. Natural areas stayed the same but more modern facilities are removed because attract visitors.
