The diagrams illustrate the layout of Sawry District and how it has significantly transformed between 1920 and 2020.
Overall, the Sawry District has witnessed significant changes. Particularly, the area has appeared to have evolved into a much more modern city and converted into a residential district with new housing facilities by 2020.
In 1920, the district was divided into northern and southern quarters by Oak Avenue. In the northern of the estate, there was a sizable Tuleburg Bros. Cannery, surrounded by trees, while to the northeast there was an Elmwood River adjacent to the beach. Oak Avenue was split into many branches, leading to the residential area. To the southwest, Prestwich Primary School was situated near Miller’s Lake.
In 2020, business and housing saw the most change and growth. The Canary had been replaced by a Yang office complex. Simultaneously, a bridge was added to the main road, connecting the two banks of the Elmwood River, and a bike path was built. Further to the southwest, Prestwich Primary School had been moved to the southern vacant lot and replaced by Lomoco Petrol Station. More apartments, houses, and shops were built on both sides of the avenue; however, the lake and river remained unchanged in their previous locations.
