The two maps illustrate the changes in infrastructure in the Sawry District over a century, from 1920 to 2020.
Overall, the neighborhood underwent a significant transformation during this 1000-year period, with the introduction of numerous modern businesses, apartments, shops and other amenities by 2020. However, some shops and houses remained untouched despite the evolution since 1920.
The major changes occurred in residential and business areas. These shifts due to the replacement of a cannery into an office complex, since a Restwich primary school expanded and replaced to the south, near Miller’s lake.
Additionally, the road was constructed to the north, passing/crossing the Elmwood river with the bridge. This development, along with the construction of modern apartment, resulted destruction of houses that existed in 1920. Oak avenue which originally comprised of two houses and one shop which were expanded with two apartments, shop, house to the east and petrol station to the west of the area. While Elwood river saw the construction of a bike path, demolishing a tiny beach by 1920 picture.
