The illustrations below provide information on world population in urban and rural areas in the period from 2010 to 2040 and percentage of specific type of people living in those places.
Overall, in the majority of the first table there are more citizens in cities. Also, the population of villages slowly, but consistently going down, while that for other region it is a complete opposite. Moreover, it is clear that in both situations vast amount of chart take children and the complete opposite for them will be elderly people.
In 2010, most of the world lived in rural areas making up about 3100 million people, while at the same time cities were not that popular so it was only 2500 millions. In the next 20 years changes been made and the citizens in urban regions more than tripled its numbers having 8900 million individuals. By the end of the table, there were only 890 million worth of population remaining for rural areas, but for others nothing quite changed adding roughly 300 million people to its numbers.
Looking at the proportion of individuals living in those areas,the figure for children takes most of the chart both being around 40% with rural areas having slightly more. However, it is not the case elderly ones which make up 15% for urban and 12% for rural places, which is the least amount in the whole chart. Considering the genders, there is not much difference making up about 25% for females and roughly 22% for males.
