The line chart illustrates the average cost of three media devices (mobile phones, laptops, and televisions) between 2020 and 2026, while the bar chart compares the payment methods for these devices among four different age groups in 2020.
In general, it is obvious that price of laptops is growing steadily; laptop stays the most expensive device through years, while price of televisions is falling. But situation with mobile phones does not change. Besides in all age groups the most popular payment method is outright. Moreover, elder people use it more than young people.
In 2020, the average cost of laptops was around $2,000, and this figure increased steadily to just over $2,500 by 2026, making laptops the most costly device throughout the period. By contrast, televisions experienced a significant fall in prices, from about $1,200 in 2020 to below $1,000 in 2026. Mobile phones, on the other hand, remained fairly stable, rising slightly from approximately $1,400 to around $1,600 over the same year.
Talking about payment methods, almost 80% of people older than 60 are using outright method. People from 40 to 59 use other methods more than elders, but mostly prefer outright and payment plan. 45% of people between 26 and 39 use outright and approximately 30-40% use plans. Young people have the lowest percentage of outright usage (23%) and the highest in plans (35%). Also other payment methods are more popular among them, accounting for 40%.
