The pictures above illustrate the development of West Park School in three different stages: 1950, 1980, and 2010. Overall, the site transformed from a simple 4-block setting consisting of school, playground, farmland, and housing into a more organized educational place with additional infrastructure and facilities.
In 1950, the school was built close to a main road and next to a number of houses. The playground was located behind the school building next to the farmland. By 1980, the houses had been demolished, replaced by a car park and an extended block of the school for science book collection. In addition, the farmland was converted into a sports field next to the existing playground. This development shows a shift in land use priorities from residential and agricultural purposes to educational and recreational functions.
In 2010, the school building remained unchanged, but the car park was extended to cover the entire sports field. As a result of this, the original playground was divided into two, resulting a smaller playground and sports field.
