The illustrations present the changes that have taken place at West Park Secondary School since its construction in 1950.
Overall, the school has witnessed various transformations, most notably with the addition of educational, sports and parking facilities. Meanwhile, the surrounding houses and farmland were removed, whereas the playground remained throughout the period despite becoming smaller over time.
In its original state in 1950, the school occupied the northeastern part of the site, while a large playground was situated in the southeast. To the west of these facilities, there was an area of farmland in the southwest and several houses in the northwest, all of which were located below the main road.
Regarding the changes made afterwards, by 1980 the houses had been demolished to make way for a car park and a science block, while the farmland was replaced by a sports field. At the same time, the original school building became the main building, whereas the playground remained unchanged. By 2010, the car park had been considerably expanded, occupying most of the western side of the school. Consequently, the sports field was relocated to the south of the main building, and the science block was moved to the northwest of the school. The playground, although still in the southeastern corner, had become significantly smaller than it was in 1950.
