In 1974, the area contain mainly of a small village with a population of about 12.000 people. The village was surrounded by woodland, farmland, and fishing-related facilities, such as boats and a port. There were also a few shops and a golf course located near the village.
By 2004, the area changed drastically. The population increase into 80.000 people, and the resort could hold up tourist up to the exact same number. Along the coastline, large hotels, holiday homes, and restaurants were built. New roads, a marina, and a beach were develop, replacing most of the original farmland and woodland.
