The plans below illustrate how a small fishing village and its area were transformed into a large European tourist resort between the year 1974 and 2004.
Overall, the area had developed ,and changed from a quiet village into a tourist destination with a much larger people proportion and enhanced infrastructure.
In 1974, the area was indeed undeveloped with a population of 12000. The fishing village was located by the sea, with a harbour and several boats. If you look closely, you can easily see that the village had surrounded with natural and agricultural features, including beach, olive farms ,and areas for sheep and goats. There were also a few residences for the individuals, who leaves there.
By 2004, the region had massively faced a few changes. The population increased enormously to 80000, side with 50000 tourist beds. The original village was expanded and connected to a large number of hotels along the beach. A golf course was built on the left side of the area for an exchange of nature.
In addition, farmland was developed to support tourism, producing fruit and vegetables for hotels. New roads were constructed, linked different parts of the resort, and more residential areas were added for tourist.
