The diagram compares the past and current layout of a student accommodation.
Overall, the building has undergone several development with more facilities and less greenery to cater to students’ desires.
There are several changes at the bottom half of the accomodation. It is apparent that the garden on the south side of the house was eliminated, making space for a new car parking as more students commute by cars. While the student bedroom at the right corner and near the entrance remain untouched, the hallway deacreased in size as a new en-suite room has been built next to the bedroom. The bathroom is still located at the center of the accommodation.
The modernization and expansion has also been witnessed on the north of the building. One part of the garden has been demolished for the construction of a new student bedroom. The living room is repurposed to become a student room, along with the remainance of the adjacent bedroom. The kitchen nowadays is also perceived as a social area, compensating for the destruction of the living room.
