Process
The diagram illustrates the life cycle of a species of large fish known as salmon. Overall, the life cycle of a salmon spans approximately nine to ten years, taking place in three distinct environments: the upper river, the lower river, and the open sea. The salmon develops through three precise stages, beginning as fry and ending as an adult
In the initial stage, salmon eggs are laid in the upper river, where the water is slow-moving, and are protected under reeds and small stones for around 5-6 months. Having hatched, the young fish migrate to a lower river, remaining there for about 4 years. Following this, they relocate to an open sea, where they stay for approximately 5 years.
Regarding the growth of the salmon in its length, the newly hatched salmon is initially about 3-8 cm before experiencing an increase in its length to 12-15 cm during the smolt stage. In the final stage, the salmon grows considerably, reaching 70-76 cm as an adult.
