The given table illustrates the amount of time spent on leisure activities, while the bar chart provides information about the average time spent on household activities by males and females in the UK in 2008.
Overall, it is clear that the most favorite activities for both women and males were watching TV, videos or listening to radios. However, women were more likely taking parts in household tasks rather than men, with the exception of repairing.
In 2008, watching TV, videos and listening to radios were the most popular activities for both sexes to spend their free time, however men still spent 20 more minutes than women (137 and 118 minutes ). In contrast reading and sports were nearly equally popular among both genders with only 1minute difference for reading (18 minutes for men and 19 for women) and 4 minutes for sports (15 minutes for men and 11 for women)
Household activities, on the other hand, showed different results, due to women’s more contribution to every task except repairing. Female population of UK spent 80 minutes per day on washing and cooking, which is 50 minutes more than how much time male population spent. Shopping was another activity that was overtaken by women with nearly 40 minutes spent per day. Repair is the only household task that men do more then women with around 20 minutes contribution. Washing clothes and ironing turns out to be the least favorable activities for men to do and according to the table women spent approximately three times more time on doing laundry at 30 minutes every day.
