The two given line graphs depict train passenger numbers and the proportion of on-time train performance between 2000 and 2009.
In general, the train passenger count exhibited moderate growth throughout the analyzed period. Additionally, the rate at which trains operated punctually displayed an overall significant increase, despite a decline.
More specifically, from 2000 to 2005, the number of train takers rose consistently, initially from around 35 million in 2000 to a peak of about 46 million passengers in 2005. A reversal trend, however, could be witnessed in the subsequent years, driving the number of train passengers down to approximately 42 million.
Regarding trains’ on-time rate, it first claimed 92%, around 3% lower than the targeted rate. In the next 4 years, train punctuality displayed some improvements, with its percentage surpassing the expected standard in 2002 and ending at 96% in 2004. Nevertheless, from 2004 to 2006, it fell considerably, reaching a low value of 92% before making a recovery to 97% in 2008 and 2009.
