The flowchart illustrates information about the recycling process of aluminium cans.
In general, it can be seen that the step- by- step process consists of six distinct stages. It starts from collection of recyclable aluminium cans and ends with reuse of former cans.
Initially, aluminium cans are gathered and placed in a special recycling bin for aluminium cans. Once aluminium cans have been collected, they are then purified. Following this, aluminium cans are sorted, shredded and compressed tightly with a special machinery. Subsequently, aluminium cans are melted in a furnace. Once aluminium cans are heated, they are then rolled using a rolling mill making it from 2.5mm to 6mm thick.
After being rolled, aluminium cans are then sent to factories to be used in the production of new products. Finally, they are ready to be sold in new forms. It is also worth mentioning that in the UK, 74% of aluminium cans are recycled.
