The diagram illustrates the 11-step process of pencil manufactoring. Overall, the cycle begins by planting tree seeds and ends when pencils are painted, sharpened and stamped to be put into boxes.
The primary stages consist in growing the appropriate plants through, approximately, 17 years and 4 months. Firstly seeds are planted, cultivated for 4 months until they reach the right size, when they are replanted. After 3 years, the adult trees get thin and they are removed from the ground.
The second part uses specific machinery. The wood is cutted into slats, then treated before a spare time of 60 days. Subsequently, the material receives glue, black leads and grooves until another slat comes from the above. In sequence, this piece is pressed and heated, becoming ready to be divided into the final format. Afterwards, the pencils are painted, sharpened and stamped and stored into the right box to be sent to the market.
