In 1980, Turkey led with renewable energy production, but output fell in 1990 before rising again steadily in 2000 and 2010. Spain followed with highly variable production levels. Although it briefly overtook Turkey in 1990, Spain’s output dropped sharply to a low in 2000, with only a minor increase by 2010.
Italy, initially producing the lowest electricity from renewables in 1980, remained stable through 1990. By 2000, however, production began a steady rise, ultimately reaching the highest output among the three countries in 2010.
