The line graph illustrates changes happening in 30 years in the numbers of students majoring in four different fields, in thousands. Overall, it is notable that numbers of students in MBA and Engineering increased, and those of teachers and journalists declined in that period of time.
Considering fields rising in popularity, the MBA and Engineering start at nearly 300 and 500 thousand people in 1980, respectively. Both of these numbers keep rising until 2000, and from that point, the rise in the quantity of engineering students starts to settle down until in 2010 the number reaches just above 1500 thousands. However, the number of MBA majors surges to roughly 2500 thousand students by 2010.
In terms of specialities declining in popularity, measures of teachers and journalists started at around 800 and 400 thousand in 1980, respectively. Until 1990, both of the figures declined sharply and reached approximately 500 and 200 thousand students, correspondingly. After that, those numbers had experienced a relatively steady decrease until both of them reached similar amounts of about 200 thousand students in 2010.
