The figures give information about the rate of unemployed people among females and males by different age groups in Australia between 1980 and 2040, with projections about the future.
Overall, females have the highest values of unemployment, while males have lower rates. Moreover, unemployment is more widespread among the 21-25 age group.
During the entire period, women make up the highest rates of unemployed people. In 1980, this rate was 40%. Meanwhile, only 12% of men were unemployed, and this ratio was the same till 2020. By contrast, among women, it dropped to 33% in 1995 and remained at this value in the next five years. After that, this figure for females peaked at 52% and dropped again to the same value as in 1990. Afterwards, there was no change, and no change is predicted until 2040. At the same time, joblessness for men will grow until 2035 and will peak at 34%.
At the beginning, 45% of unemployed people were younger workers, 32% were in the 25-30 age group, and 10% were for older workers. For the 21-25 age group, there were two drops and growth between 1985 and 2010. It peaked 53% twice, in 1990 and 2005 and dipped 33% in 1990 and 32% in 2000. Meanwhile, trends for older groups grew and dip slightly. Afterwards, all trends were stable. In the future, it projected that there will be growth for evey age group.
