Overall, three cities actually witnessed the upward trend of the number of population during 10 years. While Jakarta and Sao Paulo were both estimated to increase the dwellers, the rate of one in Shanghai was shown the decreased trend.
In terms of Sao Paulo, the number of residents in this city was highest compared the other rates, which was about 17 million in 1990. The projections of population growth had a significant increase through 10 years, could get roughly 22 million in 2000. However, the actual figure of one got over the prediction, was approximately 25 million of residents.
Experiencing the same trend, the number of population in Jakarta witnessed the high growth during the period. In 1990, the residents of Jakarta were just 8 million, while the rate was predicted to grow by 3 million in 2000. The total dwellers of Jakarta were about 13 million, outperformed the estimated one by 2 million.
Conversely, even though the actual figure of population of Shanghai in 2020 was higher than this one in 1990, it was expected to decrease by 1 million. The actual number of residents of Shanghai in 1990 and 2000 were 12 million and 15 million, respectively.
