The bar chart below demonstrates shares of spendings for five main categories in the USA, Canada, the UK and Japan in 2009. The categories are: food; housing; transportation; health care and clothing. The countires are pretty different in terms of income, and there are several main trends on the chart.
The first bar shows the pertencage of wage people spend on food. Japan is leading here, and several factors may be affecting this, such as geography of the country, which makes it hard to harvest the most of the food cultures there. Second bar illustrates the expenditures on housing, and the USA is leading here. The lead is not big, but we still come to the conclusion that the property in the US is the most expensive out of all four countries.
The third category is transportation, and Canada is slightly leading. Interestingly, Japanese people spend the least on transportation, and this fact makes us think about the accesibility to public and personal transport in the country. The penultimate category is healthcare, and the US was able to stand out here as well. American people, as we may undestand from the bar chart, have an access to the cheapest clothes, or maybe they just wear them for much longer. In conclusion, each country has its own peculiarities. Every state has a special combination of economic, political, cultural and historical factors, that’s why it happens that in one country people spend on certain things more than on others.
