The chart illustrates the proportion of four different categories namely physical activities, video games, music, and shopping of leisure activities that male adolescents and female adolescents living in Canada are interested in.
Overall, boys find shopping and physical activities more interesting than girls while the opposite was true for the remaining types. Meanwhile, the percentages of playing video games and shopping between the two genders are not too different.
Looking first at boy’s favorite leisure activities, boys who are keen on shopping do most of their recreational activities, with around 35%, followed by playing sports at more than 25%. While the number of male teenagers interested in listening to music is around 20%, slightly higher than playing video games, with approximately 15%.
Turning to female teenagers’ hobbies, the percentage of girls who fancy music is the same as boys (the highest categories girls are keen on). The number of girls who adore playing video games are around 15%, moderately higher than doing physical activities and shopping are at more 10% and 5%, respectively.
