The charts show the amount of four types of citrus fruits exported by the top countries in 2012, measured in thousand tonnes.
Overall, oranges were the most exported fruit, while grapefruits had lower export volumes compared to the other categories. Mexico was the leading exporter in two categories, while South Africa, Turkey, and Egypt each led in one category.
For oranges, South Africa exported the largest amount at about 1,100 thousand tonnes. Egypt came second with 800 thousand tonnes, and the United States exported 500 thousand tonnes. In the lemons category, Mexico led with 450 thousand tonnes, slightly ahead of the United States at 420 thousand tonnes, followed by Argentina with 300 thousand tonnes.
Turkey was the top exporter of grapefruits with 400 thousand tonnes, while Mexico was close behind at 385 thousand tonnes. The United States exported 300 thousand tonnes in this category. In the “Others” category, Mexico again ranked first with 500 thousand tonnes, Egypt exported 450 thousand tonnes, and the United States shipped 110 thousand tonnes.
