Feature 1:
The percentage of the population aged 15-64 years saw a significant increase from 1990 to around 2010. It rose from approximately 65% to over 70% during this period, making it the largest age group in China. However, starting from 2010, the percentage began to decline gradually, and it is projected to continue decreasing, reaching about 60% by 2050. Meanwhile, the population aged 65 years and older showed a noticeable rise, starting from just below 10% in 1990 and climbing steadily. It is predicted that by 2050, this age group will make up almost 25% of the total population, highlighting the increasing aging population in China.
Feature 2:
In contrast, the percentage of the population aged 0-14 years has been steadily declining. In 1990, this age group accounted for around 33% of the population, but by 2020, it had dropped to approximately 17%. The decline is expected to continue, and by 2050, the population of children in this age range is forecasted to decrease to around 12%. This trend suggests a shrinking younger population in the coming decades.
