The line graph illustrates the number of workers who lacked jobs in European Union from 1990 to 1999.
Overall, self-employed workers showed the most marked growth in the data over the years shown. Besides, while the proportions of unemployed workers recorded a significant rise, except for that of professional workers. Additionally, the data on professional workers was the lowest throughout the whole period.
As can be seen from the graph, although manual workers accounted for the highest figure, after nine years, it lost the position as the leading group, at approximately 10%. The percentage of self-employed workers decreased quickly before increasing dramatically to about 13% for the rest of the period. A similar trend was observed in that of all worker, though to a smaller extent, growing from around 5% to 10%.
Looking at the rate of professional workers, in spite of the noticeable fluctuation in the data, that on it was still the lowest percentage for the rest of the period, being only higher than the proportion of all workers in 1992, at 2%
