Overall, it is clear that all five countries experienced an upward trend in international tourist arrivals over the fifteen-year period. There was a dramatic increse on number of arrivals in USA and France, while in Brazil and Egypt the total number increased slightly and Malaysia got a significant growth at the same time.
USA initially was the the most visited one among five countries, started with just over 70 million and reached just over 90 million, thereby achieving the highest number in 2005, but slightly dropped by 2010. France, which started just above 30 million, went up to the starting point of America at the same time, placed in the top reaching equally nearly 90 million arrivals over the time period. Malaysia also made high results starting beyond 20 million and taking the third place by a total of nearly 50 million by 2010.
Regarding the remaining two countries, Brazil and Egypt both began the period with the lowest visitor numbers, starting marginally below 10 million in 1995. Over the following 15 years, both nations experienced a steady upward trend. While their growth rates were nearly identical until 2000, Egypt’s arrivals began to climb at a slightly faster pace thereafter. By 2010, the number of tourists in Egypt had risen to just above 15 million, whereas Brazil saw a more modest increase, ending the period with roughly 12 million arrivals.
