The bar chart illustrates what kind of common activities are done by children of various ages in the United States before going to bed.
Overall, reading is the most common bedtime activity in all age groups of children, while the least of them tend to eat before sleeping, making it less common among other activities.
Regarding children of 1-3 years, almost 65% of them read daily as part of their bedtime routine. 40% of children take a shower, whereas 30% of them brush their teeth in the late evening. Eating is done by 20% of children in this age group every day before bed. However, watching TV is generally uncommon, only done by around 15% of children.
A closer look at the other two age groups reveal that 70% of 4-5 year olds’ and just under 60% of 6-8 year olds’ bedtime activity is reading. 45% of the second age group brush their teeth, while this percentage is roughly 50% in the group of 6-8 year olds. Watching TV and eating are not usual as they only accounted for under 20% in all age groups of children.
