The line graph illustrates data on employment level (in millions) in four major sectors of the US economy over the sixty-year period from 1960 to 2020.

Overall, the number of jobs in manufacturing and agriculture decreased over the period given, while healthcare and retail witnessed an upward trend. Employment level in manufacturing was the highest amongst others for most of the period; however, it was surpassed by healthcare and retail.

The number of jobs in manufacturing was 15 millions increasing significantly by 5 million reaching its peak in twenty years, before it had witnessed a sharp decline approximately to 13 millions jobs and had surpassing by retail and healthcare by the end of the period. As regards the number of jobs in agrucltural sector, it had approximately 6 million work places in 1960, after which had halved to 3 million within 20 years. The figure fell steadily from 3 million to 2 million in the period between 1980 to 2020.

Employment level in retail sector increased considerably from 6 millions to 16 million jobs throughout the period. As for healthcare with 2 million jobs in 1960, it growed consistently to 16 millions in 60 years.
