Overall, the trends of people living in cities of all countries seem to increase from the past to the future. Among all the cities, Malaysia has and will have the most population.
To begin with, in 1970, the percentage of people living in the Philippines was double that of Malaysia, at 30%. The percentage of people living in these cities significantly increases throughout the period and is expected to reach 80%
living in Malaysia and 60% people in Indonesia.
Furthermore, the proportion of people living in Thailand was nearly 20% in 1970, which kept increasing for the next two decades and plateaued for the next ten years before reaching about 30% in 2020. Also, it is expected to soar to 40% in 2024. The population percentage in the Philippines was around 30% in 1970 and 1980. This figure rocked above 45% in 1990 before lowering in 2010 by ten percentage points and then increasing in each subsequent year, projected to reach 50% in 2024.
