The line graph illustrate the percentage of the population living in urban areas from 1970 to 2020 and it’s forecast growth for the year 2030 and 2040 in four countries namely the philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. It is apparent that there is a rise on population in this countries within the span of 50 years and a possible uprise in the next 10 years.
Urban population in Thailand and Indonesia during the 1970 were considered in the lower percentage with only just above a tenth for Indonesia and approximately a fifth for Thailand. In the year 2000 both of it’s population rose steadily and had reached the same index of slightly under a third. However in 2020, Indonesia’s city population rose a little above 50% while Thailand remained it’s rate at 30%. In addition, it’s is expected by the year 2030 and 2040 that there will be an increase of the population in both countries where Indonesia has a forecast of approximately three-fifths and a little above two-fifths for Thailand.
Similarly, in the 1970 both the Philippines and Malaysia started an index of 30% and around 31% respectively. Although, Malaysia had drastically increased it’s population within 50 years and had reached a rate of third of a quarter from 1970 to 2020, the Philippines in the other hand experienced a fluctuating changes on it’s urban population with only a little above two-fifths in 2020. Moreover, it is said that in the next decade there will be a rise on the population, where Malaysia could reach a rate of 81% while the Philippines might reach a little above a half.
Overall, because of the opportunities in the big cities, the four countries saw an increased on it’s city occupants and will be still expecting a rise for the next 10 years.
