The line graph demonstrates the proportion of total number of people located in cities in four Asian countries from 1970 to 2040.
Overall, all four countries show an increasing trend in percentage, with Malaysia having the most individuals by 2040. Also, in 1970 the Philippines was the most populated country, but was outcompeted by the other three.
Malaysia’s population in percentage is exactly 30%, and skyrocketed to a little above 70% in 2010. Eventually, it will increase to around 80% in 2040. Thailand had about 20% of the world’s population, which is just 5% less than that of Indonesia in 1970. However, the two countries illustrated an upward trend where both have the same proportion at a little below 30% by 2000, and Indonesia will exceed Thailand by approximately 20% in 2040.
For the Philippines, it has around 32% of the world’s population, then it jumped to a little under 50% in 1990. Although it fell back to just above 40% by 2010, there is still an increasing trend of the population of the Philippines from about 43% in 2020 to around 55% in 2040, which is just 5% lower than that of Indonesia and approximately 3% higher than that of Thailand.
