The grqph illustrates the overall trend of the population in four countries argentina , Brazil , Uruguay and Ecuador living in cities for the50 years with predcitions for another 20 years .
It evident from the graph that the main pattern upward trend characterizing the evolution of the population from 10 to 100 per cent .
At the beginning , it noteworthy that the less urban cities were Uruguay and Ecudor , where around one-fifth livied in cities .By 2020 the population had risen to around 95% in Uruguay making the highest urbanised country on the chart and to just 70% in Ecudor .
On the other hand , Brazil while half lived in cities in 1970, however by 2020 the number stood at a little under 90% .Of the four nations , argentina maintained the highest pourcentage of urban poplulation , until it was surpassed by Uruguay shortly before 2020. At the outset of the period, around 70% of Argentinians lived in cities, more than three times the proportion seen in both Uruguay and Ecuador. Since then, growth has been more gradual, eventually topping 90% in 2020.
Over the next twenty years, growth is expected to slow in the countries where cities are currently home to nine out of every ten individuals, rising by no more than 3%. Ecuador, however, should expect its percentage to reach 80% by 2040.
