The line graph gives data on various types of chatting which were used by adolescent in the United States from 1990 to 2020.
Overall, it’s clearly seen from the graph that there were upward trends in the percentages of text messages and calls, whereas, the opposite pattern could be observed in the case of ,face to face ,decreasing substantially. Although , text messages was in the lowest proportion in the beginning of the span, while it had became the highest by the end of the period. Turning to details we can see positive tendencies in the figure for text messages and calls. The percentage of text messages was approximately 5 in the initial year, it’s figures then saw a dramatic rose to 30% over the next decade. This growing tendency persisted another year when it reaches a chart high of 80 % by the end of the span. Regarding calls, it’s figure increased gradually from just above 20% to approximately 28% in the 2000, which was followed fluctuations before reaching 60% by the final year.
Moving on to the only declining way of communicating, face to face went through some mild fluctuations over the whole span. In 1990 this method of community was 70% and the highest proportion in this year. However, this rate to declined marginally to 50% in 2000. Over the following years it turned it out to be quite negative. After falling to 40% in 2010, this relative figure continued its downturn until 20% in the final year.
