The maps illustrate how an office in America is different from Japanese. Overall it is obvious that there are department spaces in the west corner in the United States office while an office in Japan located in the top center of the office is not.
A closer look into an office in Japan reveals that the working environment is less open than in America. There are four main doors and two windows for staff in American’s office, which is constructed to encourage the fresh working space. In contrast, there are only two main entrances and one window in Japan and the structure of the office is put following a T map.
Moreover, the office in America has two rows of desks for employees, which is surrounded by printer copies, storage, conference rooms and managers. Compared to an office in Japan, there is a main department manager who controls two section managers. Desks of employees are beside each other in order to easily exchange information at work.
