The graph below depicts the annual usage of water by different industries in some countries. There are mainly two sources, ground water and public water supply, by which these industries get water.
Overall, chemical industries are the major water usage by both ground and public supply, with 430 and 240 millions of cubic meters respectively. Most of the industries in the country uses ground water as their basic source of water. For instance Fuel, metal, paper and textile industries uses ground water with 70, 240, 190 and 80 millions of cubic meters respectively. Whereas these companies do not even use half the amount of ground water from public water supply. Fuel and machinery industries are quite opposite in the usage of water. As the graph shows, 70 cubic meter of ground water is used by fuel industry, on other hand machinery industries uses only 10 cubic meters of ground water. While coming to public water supply, 100 million cubic meters is used by machinery industry and only 10 million cubic meters is used by fuel industries.
In conclusion, majority of the industries in the country depends on Ground water rather than public water supply.
