The line graph compares the amount of money which Americans spend on cell phone, national and international fixed line services from 2001 to 2010. Overall, there was a dramatic change with cell phones services and national fixed line services, while the other service was not significant changes.
In 2001, an average of nearly 700 USD was spent on landline telephone services nationwide compared to about 200 USD for the other two telephone services, international fixed line and cellphone. In the next five years, the average amount spent on national fixed line services dropped significantly by about $200. In contrast, annual spending on cell phone services increased dramatically from $200 to $500. In addition, the figures for international fixed line services remained stable at $300.
In 2006, Americans spent the same money on national fixed line and cell phone services, about $500. From 2006, the amount of money spent for national fixed line service continued to decrease sharply and bottomed out at $400 in 2010. At the same time, the figure for cell phone services peaked at more than $700. With international fixed line service, there were not significant changes during that period.
