The given line chart compares the changes in the quantity of UK air pollutant sources over a 15-year period starting from 1990.
Overall, the number of total UK air polluters decreased during the given period, with the industry and the households contribution fall and slight increase in the number of the transport emissions. While the total air pollutioning sources showed downward trajectory, as well as industry trend, the households and the transports emissions had stagnation phases and throughs.
Initially, the UK’s air polluted with 1 million tonnes household and transport emissions each. Contribution of the household and the transport were constant up to 1999, with minor ups to 1,5 million transport emissions in 1993. In 2002, the transport and the households figure branched, as the transport emissions tripled and the household figure decreased to 0.
The dynamic of total air pollutants started at a record high 8 million tonnes, with the industry contribute of 6 million tonnes, which is highest among all sources. By 2002, the number of the industry emissions became equal with transport emissions, and further surpass of the transport contribution by 1 million. Final total air pollutants accounted for 5 million, including 2 millions tonnes industry emissions.
