The following bar chart illustrates the rate of women that are out of work in four different countries of the United Kingdom from 2013 to 2014. In brief, the trend of female unemployment declined in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. However, Scotland was the only country that has increased in these two years. What’s more, England received the highest rate in 2013 while Scotland reached its peak in 2014.
In 2013, England recorded the highest women unemployment rate at 6.8 percent followed by 6.1 percent with Scotland. It is observed that the percentage in Wales and Ireland were relatively lower, they hit 5.4 and 5.6 percent, respectively. Furthermore, there was a significant difference of 1.4 percent between England and Wales, which exhibited the highest and lowest points.
On the other hand, the corresponding figures for England dropped slightly to 6.5 percent by 2014. This was a gap of 0.3 percent compared to 2013. At the same time, Wales demonstrated a decline of 0.4 percent. Ireland also saw a dramatic drop from 5.6 to 4.6 percent. In contrast, Scotland represented the only country to increase by 0.6 percent which meant that more women were jobless. In fact, it registered the highest rate at 6.7 percent.
