Overall, the landfill is the method that accounts for the highest percentage in almost countries, except for Spain. Additionally, while recycling is used the lowest in the UK, a reverse pattern can be showed in the Netherlands.
While recycling is utilized the most to deal with waste in the Netherlands, at around 68%, there are only about 11% is examined in Spain. Moreover, the figures for this method in two remaining countries are not significant, at precisely 20% and roughly 13% in Italy and the UK respectively. Meanwhile, the landfill witnesses the highest share in the UK, at about 65%. Spain and Italy also have a relative figures at 40%, opposing to approximately 8% in the Netherlands.
Concerning two remaining waste managements, 30% of waste is treated by burning in Spain, followed by Italy, the Netherlands and the UK, which reach at roughly 22%, 10% and 4% respectively. Finally, the figure for using rubbish as chemicals have a moderate percentage, at around 18% in both Italy and Spain. On the other hand, the shares of waste that utilize it in the UK and the Netherlands are lower, at approximately 17% and 13% respectively.
