The line graph compares the energy consumption of six different fuels in the UK since 1978 with predictions until 2038.

Overall, the amount of consumption of all fuel types increased and is projected to increase, with the exception of hydropower.

Petrol and Oil, Coal and Natural Gas are consumed more than the other types. At the beginning of the period, Petrol and Oil was the most consumed energy fuel, with 35 quadrillion units, and this consumption was also predicted to rise to 50 quadrillion units. Although Natural Gas’ usage started as the second most common fuel at 20 quadrillion units, coal usage is expected to surpass it at the end of the period with around 30 quadrillion units.

Nuclear, Solar, Wind and Hydropower consumption figures were not as high as the three fuels, as they all started the period at approximately 3 quadrillion units. Nuclear, Solar and Wind usage experienced an increase over the period, with the projection of an increase to nearly 8 and 6 units, respectively. However, Hydropower consumption was expected to remain stable at approximately 3 units.
