The line graph illustrates the energy consumption by fuel in the UK from a 2011 report for 60 years of period.
Overall, the petrol and oil, coal and natural gas show the upward trend whilst nuclear, solar and wind, and hydropower remain steady in this figure. During this 60 years of period, the petrol and oil consider as the most energy consumption way in the fuel and hydropower shows as the lowest consumption way.
In 1978, the petrol and oil energy consumption started at 35 quatrillion units and slightly declined to just above 30. However, it raised to just below 35 before falling back between 30 to 35 quatrillion in 1993. Moreover, after raised until 2011, petrol and oil predicted as it will show a continuos upward trend until 2038. Similarly, coal energy consumption shows the same pattern as petrol and oil in this figure which started just above 25 in 1978 and predicted to reach 30 within 60 years. energy consumed by natural gas was 20 quatrillion units in 1978 and fell down above 15 and raised between 20 to 25 before again fell downjust above 20. However, it was predicted to reach 25 in 2018 and willremains stable until 2038.
In contract, other fuel sources including nuclear, solar and wind, and hydropower shows a stable figure around 5 quatrillion units in these 60 years period. All of these three fuel sources started just below 5 quatrillion units and shows relatively stable figure where nuclear and solar and wind projected to reach above 5 and hydropower below 5.
