In 1995, male employment rates were notably high in Iceland and Switzerland, at approximately 70% and 64%, respectively, while the United Kingdom recorded the lowest point at just over 54%. By 2005, employment percentage of men gradually increased, however, rates in Switzerland and Iceland remained at the top – the former mentioned at around 65% and the latter reached the peak at over 84%. In addition, Australia had the lowest percentage at just under 70%, while remaining countries at above 70% in 2005.
Conversely, women’s employment rate touched the bottom in New Zealand and Australia at around 25% in 1995, and then slightly improved to approximately 39% and 40% in 2005. Switzerland had the highest female employment result at nearly 55% in 1995 and a little less than 70% in 2005.
