The line graph provides information about how many people will learn three main global languages, including English, Spanish and Mandarin in the ten-year period.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that the majority of people will prefer becoming English speakers, whereas the last two languages will not be so popular among students.
With respect to Mandarin learners, their number will begin at 100 million. After increasing steadily, the figure will have crossed the number of Spanish students by 2026, and will overtake them in the following years. By the end of the period in question there will be a sharp rise, that will lead to reaching a peak of almost 600 million in 2030. As for the figure for people who study Spanish, it is estimated that it will account for 200 million in 2020. After an improvement by 100 million, the number is likely to go up considerably and will finish at 500 million students.
If we look at the figure of English students, it will fluctuate remarkably. At the beginning there will be sudden growth from around 550 to 700 million in 2024. At this point, despite a slight decrease to nearly 600 million, the number then will rocket to approximately 750 million people at the of the period.
