The line graph illustrates the occurrence of different sweeteners in the USA along the period of 45 years from 1966 to 2012. The sweeteners include honey, edible syrups, corn sweeteners and refined cane and beet sugars.
Corn sweeteners saw the biggest rise in usage from 1966 to 2012. With Honey and edible syrups being stable along the years with very negligibale amount. Refined cane and beet sugars started off as the highest sweetener in 1966 but did not continue this way until 2012.
As mentioned, refined cane and beet sugars were mostly used in the year 1966, this was until 1976 where it started declining from almost 100 pounds per person to 60 pounds until the year 1986. Afterwards, it became almost steady. As for the corn sweeteners, it rose dramatically from 20 pounds per year to a peak of almost 80 pounds per person in the year 1996 before experiencing a slight decrease reaching 60 pounds in 2012.
Edible syrups was the least sweetener used in the Usa, approximately at 5 pounds per person. With honey being slightly above it demonstrating nearly 10 pound per person. As for the total sweeteners usage in the country, a noticeable surge was seen from the year 1991 to 2001 before declining again.
