The given line graph displays the availability of different types of sweeteners in the United States between 1966 and 2012.
In total, it was noticed that the rise in the availability of the sweetener was from 1966 to around 2000. The amount of refined cane and beet sugars had fallen in 1986, but after that, there was a plateau. The growth of corn sweeteners was gradual until 1986, then between 1986 and 2011, there were fluctuations. The amount of honey and edible syrups remained relatively stable.
From 1966 to 1985, the amount of refined cane and beet sugars and corn sweeteners had opposite trends. The refined cane and beet sugars had fallen from 100 pounds to around 65 pounds per person, while corn sweeteners increased steadily from 20 pounds to approximately 65 pounds per person. In 1985, both categories converged at the same level. After 1985, corn sweeteners had fluctuations as refined cane and beet sugars remained relatively stable. By 2007, they met again at around 63 pounds. In contrast to sugars and sweeteners, honey and syrups barely changed. Similarly, they started at around 15 pounds per person, and over the period they remained stable.
