The line chart illustrates the average monthly difference in the pricing of three metals (copper, nickel, and zinc) in 2024.
It can be immediately seen from the data that the average change in the price of nickel witnessed a rapid drop from 6 percent to minus 3 percent in the first half of the year, followed by a slight increase to minus 1 percent. Next, the average change in the price of nickel remained stable between July and September before the figure rose to 1 percent over the given period. Likewise, there was a steady decline in the average difference in the pricing of copper over the first six months of the year before climbing to 1 percent and remaining constant for 3 months. Then, the average change in price dipped and ended at nearly 0.5 percent.
On the other hand, there was a slight growth in zinc’s average change in price to 3 percent in February, followed by a significant fall to minus 1 percent in July. After that, the average difference in price remained stable at almost minus 0.5 percent over three months, and then the figure increased dramatically to 2 percent.
From overall observation, it is apparent that the average difference in the price of nickel and copper saw a downward trend, while the average change in the price of zinc witnessed an upward trend.
