Overall, it is obvious that in 1997 and 2004, India was the country which had the highest amount of elephants, while China had the least quantity of elephants.
In 1997, Myanmar had around 5100 elephants, and it was the second largest amount of elephant population after India. Moreover, in Thailand estimated population of the elephants was approximately 3800, but both Sri Lanka and Malaysia had close amount of elephants. The number of elephant population in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos were approximately 1100.
On the other hand, in 2004, in Myanmar, there were around 4800 elephants, and it was the second highest state for the elephant population. In Sri Lanka, approximately 2800 elephants lived, whereas in Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Laos the quantity of elephants was just under 2500.
