The bar chart compares different places where the individuals of the UK significantly accessed the Internet following the years 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2004.
Overall, the majority of people accessed the Internet from home, while the library remained the least popular place. Internet usage at work and college displayed fluctuating or declining trends throughout the period.
In 1998, almost 55% of people accessed the Internet at home and which was the highest figure all over the years. This percentage decreased slightly to just under 50% in 2000 but it was able to reach 55% in the year 2004. Over the years the figure home showed fluctuation on the other hand, the proportion of the Internet use at work declined throughout the period although, it was able to remain stable at 28% in the years 1998 and 2000 before dropping significantly to 18% approximately in 2004.
Similarly, the percentage of individuals using the Internet at college remained stable at 20% between the year 1998 and 2000 after that it was able to increase to 25% in 2002 but was unable to keep the increasing rate alive and fell to bellow 20% in 2004. The library, which had the lowest usage rate at 11% in 1998, increased to 18% in 2000 before declining slightly to 15% in 2002 and remaining steady through 2004.
