The line graph illustrates how the birth rate of British women in six different age groups changed between 1973 and 2008.
As can be seen from the graph, the birth rate of women aged 40 and over was always the lowest, while the number of which bucked the trend in group 25 to 29. Moreover, the figures for early and late thirties birth rate increased, but it is quite the opposite case for other groups.
From 1973 to 2008, the oldest UK generation birth rate witnessed a minimal decrease throughout the mentioned period, with around 10 to 20 cases per 1000 people. Meanwhile, the figure for the 35-39 age range experienced an upward trend, from 40 to over 60 at the end of the timeframe. The birth rate for women aged 30-35 oscillated slightly but remained stable, ranging from 70 to 80 per 1000 women.
A glance at two of the youngest categories, shows a considerable decline but the figure for group 20-25 still ranked second. Moving on to the last group, which is 30-35, came third and rose mildly during the entire period, increasing from 70 to 85.
